Bali's Unique Geotechnical Profile
Much of southern Bali, particularly Munggu and Pererenan, consists of rich volcanic loam and alluvial clay over limestone or hard tuff. During the rainy season, unengineered soil experiences significant moisture expansion, followed by shrinkage in the dry season. Shallow footings quickly develop differential settlement, causing cracked walls and jammed doors.
